Support

Write to info@sp33c.tech and you will get a reply from a person. If it is a rendering problem, the markdown that causes it — even a few lines of it — saves a round trip.

Or use the form below, which arrives in the same inbox.

The library is empty, or a folder is missing from it

The reader is sandboxed: it can see the folder you handed it through Open Library Folder… (⌘O) and everything underneath it, and nothing else. Choosing the folder again re-grants that access. Only files it recognises as markdown appear — .md, .markdown, .mdown, .mkd and .txt. Files added while the folder is open show up on their own.

An article is listed under the wrong title

The title is taken from the document, in this order: a title: in YAML front-matter, then the first # heading, then the file name with its dashes and underscores turned back into spaces. Adding a front-matter title: settles it for good.

The page view cuts something off, or leaves a gap

A page is trimmed to a whole number of lines and never slices a code block, table or figure down a column edge — which means a tall block that cannot fit is moved to the next page and leaves a short page behind it. That gap is deliberate. If something is genuinely cut off rather than moved, send the markdown that does it.

A Mermaid diagram will not draw

Diagrams are rendered by the copy of Mermaid inside the app, offline, so a diagram that works on a website using a newer Mermaid may not work here. The error Mermaid returns is shown in place of the diagram; sending that line with the fenced block is enough to diagnose it.

An image does not appear

Relative image paths resolve against the article's own folder, which is what a markdown editor does. An image outside the library folder is outside what the sandbox was given and cannot be read — moving it under the library folder fixes it.

What is free, and what is not

Reading is free and does not expire: any folder, any article, all five themes, any text size, search, the outline, and the reload when a file changes underneath you.

Page view in two or four columns, rules, PDF export and printing, black & white, and the mdr command line are the paid parts. They are switched on for the first seven days so you can try them; the days remaining are shown in the library footer. When the week ends they fold away and the reader keeps working — nothing you wrote is lost, and rules you made are kept and start applying again the moment it is unlocked. The app and the command line share one week, not one each.

Restoring a purchase

The unlock is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase tied to your Apple Account, not to a Mac, and it is shared with your Family Sharing group. On a new machine, or after a reinstall, sign in with the same Apple Account and use Restore Purchases — on the unlock sheet, or in the File menu.
